The third generation of the Panamera has been unveiled by Porsche, featuring an updated exterior and interior, a wider selection of E-Hybrid powertrains, and a state-of-the-art active air suspension system.
The new Panamera features noticeable aesthetic changes, but it still has the recognizable silhouette of the outgoing model. Porsche has abandoned the wagon as well. Sadly, the Sport Turismo, with its third generation of executive cars, is not returning.
Porsche's designers took their trademark evolutionary route for the third generation model, which is similar to the mechanically similar Cayenne. As a result, despite the fact that every exterior panel has been altered, the low-slung flagship looks like a thorough facelift of its predecessor.
The front end of the 2024 Panamera has undergone the biggest changes. The standard LED Matrix headlights have a new shape that goes well with the bulging fenders, and the larger central intakes now have a grille-like appearance.
New wheel designs and colors have been introduced by Porsche, including optional 21-inch center-locking rims. Porsche has given the Turbo E-Hybrid unique bumper intakes, a body-colored diffuser, and dark bronze tailpipes to set it apart from its less potent competitors.
The new Panamera's measurements are 1,422 mm in height, 1,938 mm in width, and 5,052 mm in length. A minor 3 mm increase in length is the only difference between these figures and the previous generation.
Inside, the central infotainment touchscreen and the 12.6-inch curved digital instrument cluster are joined by an optional 10.9-inch display for the front passenger. Improved safety features include Remote ParkAssist, which can be accessed through the owner's smartphone, and the optional Porsche InnoDrive, which now offers a greater degree of autonomy.
Porsche has expanded the Panamera lineup to include a total of four E-Hybrid powertrains due to the high demand for electrified models. In comparison to the departing model, all of them are said to provide higher power outputs, better efficiency, and longer range statistics.
The 2024 Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid is outfitted with a larger 25.9 kWh battery pack and a "revamped" twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine mated to a single electric motor built into the updated 8-speed dual-clutch PDK gearbox. Porsche claims that by combining the electric motor and gearbox into a single housing, the weight is reduced by 5 kg. Additionally, the integration of the gearbox into the oil circulation system improves thermal efficiency and permits a higher output of 187 horsepower.
As a result, the hybrid system's total output reaches 670 horsepower, allowing for a 3-second 0–96 km/h sprint and a maximum speed of 314 km/h. It is obvious that Porsche will most likely release a more potent electric Panamera in the future. This version would likely be akin to the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid's impressive 729 horsepower.
The upgraded 2.9-liter V6 turbocharged engine is now available in the base Panamera and Panamera 4. With improvements in ignition timing, injection volume, and boost pressure, this upgraded engine produces 499 Nm of torque and 348 horsepower. With these enhancements, the unit's power and torque have increased by 23 horsepower and 50 Nm.
Straight-line performance is improved by the power boost, with the Panamera (RWD) achieving a 0-96 km/h sprint in 5 seconds and the Panamera 4 (AWD) achieving the same in 4.7 seconds.
The Active Ride system also adjusts ground clearance based on driving conditions, with the 'comfort access' function raising the vehicle by 5.5 cm for easier ingress and egress.
The Panamera will only come in hatchback form, with an Executive model with a longer wheelbase and a more opulent rear cabin that offers more legroom. This generation will be the last to use internal combustion engines.
Orders for the 2024 Porsche Panamera can now be placed; the base model costs $99,900, while the Panamera 4 is priced at $106,900. The delivery processing and handling fee is not included in the price. The Leipzig plant of Porsche will be the site of production, with the first cars anticipated to hit US dealerships in the spring of 2024. The flagship 2024 Porsche Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid's price and availability information will be revealed later.
