The Autonomous Toyota e-palette should give services to the athlete at the Paralympic village. But unfortunately, the working of this vehicle is suspended due to the accident with a blind athletic. This electric shuttle was designed in 2019 as a self-drive vehicle, but last Thursday, because of the collusion it is shut down for more investigation.
As Reuters reported this truck hit the athlete with the speed of 1 or 2 kilometers per hour. The shuttle was at a T junction and was about to turn under manual control when it collided with the pedestrian. The person was taken to the medical center. Toyota state official apology and wish the speed recovery, as the match is on Saturday morning. Actually, the person was able to walk and go back to the resident but however, the autonomous vehicle is suspended to the end of the investigation.
Also, the Automaker is cooperating with the police investigation and also, the company will have their own investigation too. Toyota CEO, Akio Toyoda count the autonomous vehicle as not realistic for the normal roads on a video massage. The e-palette was unveiled back in 2019 with SAE Level 4 autonomous driving designed for low-speed maneuvering. The maximum speed is just 20 km/h and also the low floors, large doors, and electric ramps were used to make the accessibility for the on-wheelchair people easier. But this accident showed Toyota should examine its autonomous vehicles more.
