Wuling Sets Electric Milestone in Indonesia with Wuling Bingo EV Launch

Wuling achieved a groundbreaking milestone on December 15 by launching the Wuling Bingo EV in Jakarta, Indonesia. The automotive giant becomes the first company to initiate production of two new energy models, the Wuling Air EV and the Wuling Bingo EV, within Indonesia.

Remarkable Pre-sale Achievements

The Wuling Bingo EV surpassed 3,000 units during its blind ordering phase, which commenced on November 16. This achievement not only surpassed the Wuling Air EV’s previous record of 2,000 pre-sale orders for new energy vehicles in Indonesia but also underscores the growing enthusiasm for electric mobility in the region.

Strategic Cooperation for EV Development

At the listing site, a strategic cooperation memorandum was signed to catalyze electric vehicle development in Indonesia. General Manager Shi Guoyong represented Wuling Indonesia in signing agreements with key entities such as PLN (Indonesia’s National Grid), Telkomsel (Indonesia’s largest state-owned telecommunications operator), and Mandiri (Indonesia’s largest state-owned bank). The memorandum aims to deepen cooperation in charging infrastructure construction, the Internet of Vehicles, financial credit, and other aspects, contributing to the overall enhancement of the electric vehicle ecosystem.

Dignitaries and Government Support

The grand launch event was graced by key figures, including Murdoko, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Office of Indonesia and Chairman of the New Energy Electric Vehicle Association. Government representatives, such as Sedo, Deputy Minister of the Investment and Mining Coordination Department, and Kemuddin, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transportation Coordination, were also in attendance. Murdoko expressed confidence in Wuling’s new energy products and technical capabilities, highlighting Wuling’s significant contributions to promoting new energy vehicles in Indonesia.

Wuling Indonesia has solidified its position as a major manufacturer of new energy vehicles, holding over half of the market share. The Indonesian government's support is evident, with the Wuling Air EV designated as the official vehicle for the G20 Summit. During the G20 Bali Summit, 300 Air EVs served as official vehicles, showcasing China’s intelligent manufacturing prowess. President Joko visited the Wuling booth at the Indonesia International Auto Show, test-driving the Air EV and acknowledging Wuling’s commitment to green and environmentally friendly transportation methods. Wuling's contributions align with Indonesia’s 2025 carbon emission targets, promising a continued collaboration for a sustainable automotive future.

Pricing Details and Regional Variances

During the official launch, Wuling Indonesia’s General Manager, Shi Guoyong, revealed the price range for the Wuling Bingo EV, ranging from 358 million to 408 million Indonesian rupiah, approximately 23,100 to 26,300 USD. Notably, the same model is priced between $8,400 to $12,500 USD in China according to Carnewschina. Variances in pricing are attributed to factors like freight, taxes, and distribution fees, contributing to the higher cost in Indonesia.
