Mazda released some details about the turbocharged engine for Mazda 3. Mazda 3 turbocharger will be available in the U.S market for 2021 in both sedan and hatchback models.
Mazda 3 turbocharged will also come with all-wheel drive system according to the dealer.
While the car hasn't officially revealed yet but it is likely to get a 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G engine with 250 hp and 420 NM of torque. This engine is shared with other Mazda products such as Mazda 6, CX-9, and CX-5. If Mazda 3 comes with the same specifications then it will seat upon entry-level Hyundai i30N by almost 70nm more torque.
Though the engine specs can cause the Mazda 3 to enter hot-hatch segment it lacks some sporty features like limited-slip differential or sport suspension. Mazda is not considering a manual version for Mazda 3 turbo as well and the car will be only available with 6-speed automatic transmission.
