Volkswagen introduced a new variant of the Golf MK.8 called the GTD. Volkswagen Golf GTD must be considered as one of the sportiest diesel cars in the market because its 2.0-liter four-cylinder TDI engine can produce 197 hp and 400 nm of torque. The engine is connected to a 7-speed automatic transmission.
These output figures helped the Volkswagen GTD to get closer to the Volkswagen Golf GTI so it can go from 0 to 100 kph in 7.1 seconds. As the GTD is an economical diesel car, it can travel up to more than 950 km with a single tank of diesel.
The starting price for the Golf GTD is $43,000 in the U.K. and it comes standard with 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, a sporty bumper, and LED foglights.
Inside the cabin, VW Golf GTD is equipped with keyless entry and start, a three-zone climate control system, foldable side mirrors, front sport seats, an aluminum gear shift lever and paddle shifters behind the steering wheel.
Dale Piper, VW UK Golf product manager said:
The Golf GTD is the third member of the Golf GT trio, each one featuring a different set of characteristics. The iconic, enthusiast-focused Golf GTI and the ultra-low emissions Golf GTE plug-in hybrid are now joined by the high-torque, high-performance GTD, The multi-award-winning new Golf family has options for everyone – petrol, diesel, mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid, performance petrol, and now performance diesel. With such a comprehensive powertrain line-up, it’s little surprise that the Golf is one of the UK’s top-selling cars, and with the GTD’s blend of performance and usability, the UK’s love affair with fast Golfs is set to continue
