The Haval H6S will be available for purchase in Australia in 2022, according to Haval. The 2022 Haval H6S is a coupe-styled variant of the new Haval H6, a mid-size sedan.
The new H6S, which was unveiled in China earlier this year, will be available at Australian Haval dealerships alongside the existing H6. The H6S has been certified for sale in Australia, according to government records, however, GWM Haval Australia states the model is still under consideration for our market and has not to be locked in.
The Haval H6S has a wheelbase of 2738mm and measures 4727mm long, 1940mm wide, and 1729mm high. The H6's ground clearance drops from 170-172mm to 165mm in the H6S. It is said to weigh between 1535 and 1615 kilograms, making it 10 to 20 kilograms less than the H6.
The H6S will be driven by the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that powers the standard local H6, producing 201 horsepower at 6300rpm and 320Nm of torque. The H6S papers list the same front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options as the normal H6, mated to the same seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Standard, Sports, Snow, and Economy settings, as well as a Track option, are available in front-drive models. Sand and Off-Road modes are available on all-wheel-drive vehicles.
The Haval H6S is available in China with the same hybrid system that will be offered in Australia early next year on the ordinary Haval H6, combining a 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder with an electric motor for 240 horsepower and 530Nm combined. The local government documentation makes no mention of this powerplant.
In Australia, a sunroof is planned to be offered on select models, and a center airbag for the two front passengers will be standard, bringing the vehicle closer to a five-star ANCAP safety certification.
A 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, 10.25-inch digital instrument display, wireless phone charging, heated electric front seats, a nine-speaker sound system, adaptive LED headlights, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and an electric tailgate are all standard features on the range-topping H6S variants in China.
Unlike the H6, the H6S has figure-hugging sports seats with lime green highlights that run throughout the seats, steering wheel, rotary shift dial, interior panels, and, on select variations, the sports exterior body package, and brake calipers.
Autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and bicycle recognition, adaptive cruise control, lane centering help, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic warning (both with brake support), and remote parking are among the standard active safety features.
GWM Haval Australia is yet to confirm the 2022 Haval H6S will be available for purchase in Australia, while the government listing says it is on track for a launch in 2022. Pricing and local specifications will be verified closer to launch, but we anticipate a price rise of a few thousand dollars above the conventional Haval H6, which starts at $31,990 and ends at $39,990 drive-away.
