The medium-to-large three-row SUV, the Ford Edge L, has been completely revealed for Chinese customers as a petrol and self-charging hybrid.

In Ford's Chinese SUV lineup, the new Edge L replaces the Edge Plus and sits below the bigger Equator. The new Ford Edge L is 1,761 mm wide, 1,773 mm height, and 5,000 mm long. 2,950 mm is the length of the wheelbase, which is 100 mm greater than the previous generation.

The SUV has several distinct bumper intakes and a huge grille that incorporates a portion of tinted full-width LED headlamps. The black trim piece with Edge writing beneath the Ford symbol and primarily horizontal lines connects the LED taillights at the back of the vehicle. Customers can also choose from alloy wheels measuring 20 or 21 inches.

Inside, a 27-inch 4K touchscreen that takes up most of the dashboard is coupled with the typical 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

With a head-up display, ambient lighting, second-row seats that recline in three different ways, a panoramic sunroof, automated tri-zone climate control, a B&O audio system, and up to 20 ADAS, the equipment is pretty substantial. The spacious interior of the cabin allows for a 2+2+3 three-row layout.

There are two different powerplant options for the Ford Edge L. The non-electric 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder turbocharged engine makes 249 horsepower and 378 Nm of torque. A stronger self-charging hybrid model is also available; it has a combined 271 horsepower and 405 Nm of torque. With a fuel consumption of 6.31 lt/100 km and a combined driving range of 1,188 km between fill-ups, as determined by the WLTC cycle, this one is also more efficient. With the help of an automatic transmission and an active 4WD system, power is sent to all four wheels.

The 2024 Ford Edge L will most likely make its public debut at the Shangai Auto Show. The SUV is expected to hit the market in April, with the hybrid version following in July. The Changan-Ford joint venture will produce the vehicle in China. At the moment, it is unclear whether Ford will offer the new Edge L in other markets or if it will remain exclusive to China.
