A new, even more, opulent trim level with updated aesthetics, an enhanced turbodiesel engine, improved capability, and a new range-topper in the form of the Denali Ultimate debuts with the renovated 2024 GMC Sierra Heavy Duty.
Beginning outside, the Sierra HD receives a minor update that mostly concentrates on the front end. Although the modifications are minor, customers will notice a new grille and headlights.
a redesigned front bumper with a more aggressive look and smaller fog lights is available. Although there haven't been many other alterations, the truck now features new taillights and modernized wheels.
There are six new body colors: Downpour Metallic, Meteorite Metallic, Redwood Metallic, Volcanic Red Tintcoat, and Titanium Rush Metallic.
Additionally, the truck's interior has been modified. The SLE and SLT grades' brand-new interior is the highlight of the display. The "premium interior" of the AT4, Denali, and Denali Ultimate makes them even more opulent and appears to be the finest in class.
The center stack is dominated by a newly optional 13.4-inch-diagonal infotainment screen. It is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless versions. A 12.3-inch-diagonal digital instrument cluster is an additional option for buyers.
The infotainment system also features a split-screen view, allowing drivers to have the audio controls on the right and the navigation screen on the left.
In addition to the new screens, we can observe a contemporary dashboard, better materials, and sophisticated switchgear. A new center console and a moved wireless smartphone charger connect them.
The powertrain choices for the 2024 Sierra Heavy Duty are the same as those for the recently unveiled Chevrolet Silverado HD. Under the hood, there is a 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel engine that has been upgraded with a new turbocharger, revised cylinder heads, and a redesigned combustion system with higher-flow injectors. With improvements, the 6.6-liter Duramax V8 turbodiesel now generates 470 horsepower and 1,322 Nm. A 6.6-liter gasoline-fueled V8 with 401 horsepower and 629 Nm of torque is the alternative. An Allison 10-speed automatic gearbox connects both engines. There are rear- and four-wheel-drive options.
Towing is the main purpose of heavy-duty trucks, so the Sierra HD 2500 Crew Cab pickup gets a new Max Tow Package that will give it a best-in-class towing capacity of up to 9,934 kg. The Sierra 2500 HD can tow up to 10,206 kg in other combinations, which is 1,814 kg more than the previous model. The 3500 HD can tow up to 16,329 kg if that isn't enough.
GMC improves the towing capacity of the Sierra HD. The Transparent Trailer View system has been enhanced to support fifth-wheel and gooseneck trailers. The Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert can also keep an eye on the vicinity of the trailer.
Scales integrated within the truck and trailer keep track of whether the gross combined weight rating is exceeded. The enhanced adaptive cruise control takes into account the increased drag and braking distance when towing.
Other technological features include Lane Departure Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Forward Collision Alert. The vehicle also includes front pedestrian braking, a following distance indicator, and standard IntelliBeam lighting. Customers can also choose to upgrade to the Pro Safety Plus Package, which is optional and includes the previously mentioned Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert as well as Rear Cross Traffic Braking.
Other highlights include a Bose audio system with stainless-steel speaker grilles, a microsuede headliner, and 16-way power front seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functions. Other niceties include a power sunroof, leather-wrapped grab handles, a rearview camera mirror, and a 15-inch color head-up display.
Even while the improvements are excellent, GMC is introducing a brand-new Sierra HD Denali Ultimate, so we're saving the best for last. It rolls on 20-inch wheels with a mix of high-gloss and machined embellishments. Additionally, the truck has electric side steps and a six-way MultiPro Tailgate. Mount Denali's topography is displayed on a special badge.
The Denali Ultimate's interior features dark Paldao wood trim all around and full-grain leather upholstery in the trim-exclusive hue Alpine Umber. Microsuede is used for the headliner, visors, and a section of the A and B pillars.
A microsuede headlining, a Bose audio system with stainless-steel speaker grilles, and 16-way power front seats with heating, ventilation, and massage features are other highlights. A motorized sunroof, leather-wrapped grab handles, a rearview camera mirror, and a 15-inch color head-up display are further amenities.
Deliveries of the updated 2024 GMC Sierra HD start in the first quarter of 2023. Later in 2023, the AT4X is added to the lineup. At the moment, there is no information on prices.
