The third-generation Honda Amaze has made its debut, sporting a refreshed exterior and interior while retaining its platform from the previous model. Despite sharing its underpinnings with the larger City sedan and Elevate crossover, the Amaze's compact dimensions and small wheels remain noticeable.
The exterior styling now features a more aggressive front fascia with LED headlights and a prominent grille, drawing inspiration from the City. Inside, the cabin has been completely redesigned, adopting a minimalist approach with elements borrowed from the Elevate, including the steering wheel, instrument cluster, and climate controls. However, the Amaze differentiates itself with an 8-inch infotainment display, smaller than the Elevate's 10.25-inch unit.
Under the hood, the Amaze continues to rely on the 1.2-liter i-VTEC petrol engine, producing 89 hp and 110 Nm of torque. This engine can be paired with a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission. Notably, a CNG option is absent, which could be a significant drawback in a market that favors fuel efficiency and affordability.
Safety is a highlight of the new Amaze, with standard six airbags and the inclusion of Honda Sensing ADAS technology in the top-spec ZX trim. This makes it the most affordable car in India with Level 2 autonomous capabilities. While the Amaze's safety rating is yet to be determined, it will compete with the 5-star NCAP-rated Suzuki Dzire.
The Honda Amaze is priced between ₹7.99 lakh and ₹10.89 lakh, positioning it slightly higher than the Dzire. With its refreshed design, advanced safety features, and competitive pricing, Honda aims to boost the Amaze's market share in the Indian small sedan segment.
