The new Qin Plus DM-i boasts a refreshed exterior with a prominent new grille design that commands attention. The rear end is characterized by a sleek, blackened through-type taillight that extends horizontally across the vehicle, creating a distinctive visual signature. While the side profile retains the familiar door handle design, a notable omission for the entry-level trim is the panoramic sunroof. However, discerning buyers can opt for an advanced driving assistance package to enhance safety and convenience.

This latest iteration of the Qin Plus DM-i has grown slightly in dimensions, with a length of 4780mm, a width of 1837mm, and a height of 1515mm, translating to a 15mm increase in length and a 20mm increase in height compared to its predecessor. The wheelbase, however, remains unchanged at 2718mm.

Stepping inside, the interior retains the familiar D-shaped steering wheel, instrument panel, and the signature floating center control screen. However, the dashboard design has been streamlined, resulting in a less layered appearance. The air-conditioning vents on either side have also been refined for a more elegant aesthetic. The center console continues to house the physical buttons surrounding the gear lever, while offering convenient features such as two wireless charging pads and dedicated cup holders. Rear passengers are also well-catered for with the inclusion of rear air-conditioning vents.

Powering the new Qin Plus DM-i is a proven combination of a 1.5L engine delivering a maximum output of 99 horsepower and a potent electric motor generating a maximum power of 161 horsepower. Customers can choose from two pure electric range options: a 43km option and a more extended 90km option to suit their individual needs.

The outgoing BYD Qin Plus achieved remarkable success in the Chinese market, solidifying its position as the best-selling sedan in 2022 with a staggering 480,025 units sold. This impressive figure also placed it as the second best-selling vehicle overall in China. The PHEV variant of the Qin Plus proved particularly popular, with 304,388 units finding their way to Chinese customers, while the EV variant contributed another 175,637 units to the impressive sales figures.

The Qin Plus holds significant historical importance for BYD. Launched in 2013, it marked the debut of BYD's first PHEV sedan within their esteemed "Dynasty" series, drawing a symbolic parallel to the Qin Dynasty, recognized as the first unified state in Chinese history.

This new generation of the BYD Qin Plus DM-i builds upon the success of its predecessor, incorporating refinements in design, technology, and performance. With its compelling blend of efficiency, style, and advanced features, the Qin Plus DM-i is poised to continue its reign as a dominant force in the Chinese automotive market.
