Cadillac Teases New GTP Prototype

Last year, Cadillac stated that it will return to the world's racing circuits in 2023 with a fourth-generation prototype race vehicle meant to compete in IMSA's future Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) class as well as at Le Mans, and now it's giving us a glimpse of what the car will look like.

These two teaser images are our first look at Cadillac's next race vehicle, which will compete in the new Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) category and will use a hybrid system. Cadillac Racing and Design is working on the vehicle, while race car maker Dallara is also involved. The premium company isn't ready to reveal any information about the car's engine.

A new Cadillac engine package will be combined with the GTP common hybrid system in the new car.

The racing vehicle has strong aero characteristics, such as a large wing, that was not evident in the original design concept Cadillac released to tease the project. The teaser photographs show a similarity to Cadillac's existing Daytona Prototype, which won the championship last year.

Cadillac claims it will reveal the Project GTP race vehicle in its entirety this summer. It will make its debut appearance on track in January 2023 at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, and Project GTP will mark Cadillac's comeback to Le Mans after a 21-year break.
