Chery’s New Hybrid SUV Exeed VX C-DM Set to Rival Top Competitors

Chery officially announced that the first mass-produced units of its Exeed VX C-DM, known as Lanyue in China, have rolled off the production line. The company is expected to open pre-sales soon, with an official launch scheduled for March. The new model is set to compete with other vehicles in its class, including the Wey Lanshan, Li L8, and Aito M7.

The Exeed VX C-DM is classified as a medium-to-large SUV, boasting dimensions of 5010 mm in length, 1940 mm in width, and 1800 mm in height. It also features a generous wheelbase of 2900 mm, making it 40 mm longer and 8 mm taller than its gasoline-powered counterpart. The vehicle's curb weight stands at 2280 kg. Buyers will have the option to choose between a six-seat or seven-seat configuration, ensuring flexibility for different passenger needs.

In terms of exterior design, the new Exeed VX C-DM retains the styling elements of the traditional fuel-powered model. It features a prominent polygonal center grille paired with distinctive dot-pattern headlights. The rear of the vehicle embraces a minimalist "Less is more" design philosophy, incorporating a fork-shaped taillight assembly for a modern touch. Additional design details include a C-DM badge positioned on the lower left side of the tailgate, an AWD emblem on the right, and a high-mounted brake light for enhanced visibility.

Built on the advanced M3X hybrid platform, the Exeed VX C-DM comes equipped with a standard all-wheel-drive system across all variants. Its powertrain consists of a 1.5T turbocharged engine combined with dual electric motors, which work alongside a 34.46 kWh ternary lithium battery pack. The gasoline engine delivers a peak power of 154 horsepower, while the combined output from the electric motors reaches an impressive 456 horsepower. Performance-wise, the SUV achieves a 0–100 km/h acceleration time within the five-second range. It also offers a pure electric driving range of 143 km under the CLTC cycle and a total driving range of 1,300 km. Despite its strong performance, the vehicle maintains impressive fuel efficiency, with a combined consumption rating of just 1.5L/100km.

As a point of comparison, the current gasoline-powered Exeed VX is priced between 193,900 and 233,900 yuan (approximately $26,600 to $32,100). With its hybrid technology and extended range, the upcoming Exeed VX C-DM aims to provide consumers with an efficient and high-performance alternative in the competitive SUV market.
