Chery debuted its gasoline-powered Tiggo 8 Plus Champion Edition SUV in China on November 10. The Tiggo 8 Plus Champion Edition received a redesign, but the engine is still the same. The inside and exterior have been improved. In more than 80 countries and regions, including Brazil, Chile, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, 800,000 Tiggo 8 devices have been sold since the device was initially introduced in 2018. Tiggo 8 is also offered in the Iranian market. In Iranian markets, Chery automobiles are rebranded as Fownix.
Tagged as a mid-size SUV, the new vehicle has dimensions of 4722 mm in length, 1860 mm in width, 1745 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2710 mm. Approaching the front, thin headlamps on either side are matched with an octagonal grille that creates a simulated three-dimensional effect.
There are two available configurations: the five-seater and the seven-seater, both using 19-inch multispoke rims. There is a roof spoiler, a high-mounted brake light, transparent shaded taillights, and two exhaust outlets in the back.
A Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip powers a pair of 12.3-inch curved screens located inside the vehicle, one for the instrument panel and the other for the central control panel. On the middle console is a 50W wireless charging pad for smartphones. The operating system of the automobile is based on Chery's Lion 5.0 system, which offers smartphone remote control, intelligent voice interaction, and screen projection for both Huawei Hicar and Apple Carplay.
Either a 2.0-liter or 1.6-liter turbocharged engine paired with a 7-speed DCT produces the power. While the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine produces 254 horsepower and 390 Nm, the 1.6-liter turbocharged engine produces 197 horsepower and 290 Nm. Official acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is 7 seconds, and fuel consumption is 6.8 liters per 100 kilometers.
The Tiggo 8 Plus Champion Edition provides level 2 advanced driving assistance features, which include automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assistance, full-speed range adaptive cruise control, and traffic jam assistance.
There are four versions available to consumers, ranging in price from 124,900 to 145,900 yuan, which is equal to 17,000 to 20,000 USD.
