Citroën C3 Aircross Fails Miserably in Safety Tests

Author: |

The Citroën C3 Aircross, a small SUV priced around $20,000, has recently faced significant criticism following a crash test conducted by Latin NCAP. The vehicle received a disappointing zero-star rating, a result primarily attributed to its inadequate safety features.

One of the most concerning issues is the limited number of airbags. The C3 Aircross, sold in 2024, only comes standard with two airbags, a stark contrast to the six airbags offered in the Indian market. This disparity highlights the varying safety standards across different regions, despite the vehicle being a relatively new model.

Beyond the airbag count, the C3 Aircross also exhibited poor performance in other crash test categories. The front impact test revealed weak chest protection, while the whiplash test indicated poor neck protection for adult occupants. Additionally, the side impact test showed significant cabin intrusion, even with the presence of side airbags. The absence of curtain airbags further compromised the overall safety rating.

Latin NCAP's assessment of the C3 Aircross was particularly harsh, with low scores in all categories: Adult Occupant (33%), Child Occupant (11%), Pedestrian and Vulnerable Road Users (50%), and Safety Assist Systems (35%). The side pole impact test was even skipped due to the lack of side head protection.
