The Rally races are always interesting. The legends of these competitions are very hard to forget. Now again one of the legends of its era, is priced. Actually, the Renault Clio V6, is the car with drifting ability, thanks to the special setup of the engine.
During the 2001 to 2005, the hot hatchback Clio V6 was introduced by the French company. That time it was a revolution for this industry. Renault presented a mod-engine and rear-drive car. From 2001 to 2003, the first phase was established. The car was capable for 227 hp and delivered 300 Nm of torque. The power came from the 2.9-liter engine, which was the result of collaboration with Peugeot and Citroen. And the phase two, was focusing on the power to reach to 252 hp.
Clio V6 is not the only hero of the Renault at rally piste, actually the Renaults 5 was always inspiring. The Turbo version of this vehicle was built just in 5,000 unites, the Clio V6, the track-only mode was much less, less than 3,000 units.
The big problem for these two vehicles was always the handling. They were on the twisty paths not much under control, and on wet roads, keeping the Clio V6 on the road was so hard as he runs out of steering lock. The main reason was the short wheelbase and also the weight distribution. Matt Prior as the driver of it said:
“As soon as you get on the power, around it comes,”
This fact about this vehicle has two sides. This car is perfect for drifting but are you that professional to stop it from spinning? This classic car is still on the market, but not as a fabric one. The price tag was £25,995 those days, but now its £44,105. Even those days, this car was much more expensive than a 2021 Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 Coupe now.
