Facelifted Peugeot 508 Debuts For 2024

The 508 sedans and 508 SW wagon from Peugeot have been updated. The 2024 Peugeot 508 and SW have the most recent grille and logo, but neither vehicle has the new mild hybrid engines that the 3008 and 5008 SUVs recently received.

The fact that Peugeot's new 134-horsepower 1.2-liter mild hybrid engines are not available for the 508 is a major letdown. Instead, the 508 makes do with an outdated 128 horsepower 1.2-liter triple in base models, or buyers may choose a 1.5-liter diesel with the same power output. Both engines send power to the front wheels via an eight-speed automated gearbox.

Numerous customers favor one of the three plug-in hybrid models, most likely one of the two front drivers that combine 109 horsepower electric motors with 1.2 liters of the combustion engine to produce either 178 or 222 horsepower.

The premium 508 PSE Hybrid4 model, which is the only all-wheel drive option, combines a 197 horsepower 1.6-liter inline-four with a 109 horsepower electric motor in the nose with a second electric motor sending 11 horsepower to the rear wheels to produce a combined 355 horsepower. The fast 7.4 kW onboard charger for the sporty all-wheel drive PSE can charge the battery in 100 minutes, but you'll have to pay extra for that in lower-spec vehicles.

The 2024 508's slimmer LED Matrix headlights and three DRL claw markings below each light unit instead of the single fang seen on the present cars make it easy to identify it from the variants introduced in 2018. The grille, which flows into the bumper below it and sports Peugeot's newest emblem, has undergone the most significant alteration.

The inside changes are equally minimal, but you could notice that the previous gearshift handle has been replaced with a toggle, as it was with the 208 and 2008 last year, and the hefty steering wheel also sports the newest Peugeot emblem.

The 508 now boasts improved speech recognition software, according to Peugeot, and the 12-in digital gauge pack visible over the steering wheel rim has new display modes showing navigation, media, and driving assists.

Peugeot hasn't disclosed pricing information for the updated 508, but a very slight price increase over the €43,420 basic price for the entry-level 508 Allure and €44,720 fee for the wagon version appears likely. The most expensive 508 models, the PSE SW, which currently costs €72,470, will likely get even closer to the startling £60k threshold at the other end of the spectrum.
