The Ford F-150 Lightning is company's first entirely electric vehicle, and it was on show at SEMA 2021. The Ford F-150 Lightning has been in pre-production since September, and with over 160,000 reservations, serial production should begin within the next several months.
The top-of-the-line Platinum Ford F-150 Lightning was on exhibit at the 2021 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
The Ford F-150 Lightning is equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. The batteries for this device are housed within the frame.
Although the battery capacity of the packs has not been published, we do know that the Standard-Range Battery can go up to 230 miles (370 km) and the Extended-Range Battery is estimated to have a driving range of 300 miles (483 km) according to the EPA rating.
The batteries are expected to have a capacity of between 115 and 170 kWh. The Ford F-150 Lightning will have a Mega Power Frunk, power outlets, and power export capabilities, as well as a range estimator for towing and hauling.
Ford is anticipated to face production difficulties as a result of the strong demand for the F-150 Lightning, but that's something we're used to in the EV industry.
Production of the electrified F-150 is expected to reach 80,000 units per year by 2024. For companies, a Ford F-150 Lightning Pro version will be available.
