GAC is gearing up to unveil its latest electric offering, the Aion UT, at the 2024 Guangzhou Auto Show. This stylish hatchback, positioned as a global strategic model, promises to captivate the market with its sleek design and impressive electric performance.
The Aion UT is powered by a single electric motor that generates 134 horsepower. Energy is stored in a lithium iron phosphate battery pack, although the specific capacity remains undisclosed. However, based on the range of the larger Aion RT electric sedan, which boasts a 68.1 kWh battery and a CLTC range of up to 650 kilometers, it's reasonable to expect the Aion UT to offer a significant driving range, possibly exceeding 600 kilometers.
The Aion UT's design is characterized by its friendly and curvaceous aesthetic. The grille-less front end and sleek LED headlights contribute to its modern and aerodynamic appearance, reminiscent of the recently unveiled Geome Xingyuan from Geely. Inside, the cabin features a contemporary layout with a large, Tesla-style infotainment screen, a two-spoke steering wheel, a floating center console, and vibrant color accents.
According to official specifications, the Aion UT measures 4,270 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, and 1,575 mm in height, with a 2,750 mm wheelbase. These dimensions position it as a compact hatchback, offering a comfortable and spacious interior.
Pricing for the GAC Aion UT is expected to start at under $13,800 in China, making it a highly competitive option in the electric vehicle market. This aggressive pricing strategy positions the Aion UT directly against the popular BYD Dolphin, which also starts at around $13,800.
With its stylish design, impressive electric performance, and competitive pricing, the GAC Aion UT is poised to make a significant impact on the global electric vehicle market.
