Geely Galaxy E5 Officially Launched

As the Geely Galaxy E5 prepares for its official launch, expected sometime in August, more details about this all-electric SUV are becoming available. The price range in China is anticipated to be between $17,900 and $23,400. The E5 is notable for being the first model in the Geely Galaxy series designed for both domestic and international markets. Both right-hand drive and left-hand drive versions are currently being tested, indicating that exports may begin soon.

In terms of size, the Geely Galaxy E5 measures 4615 mm in length, 1901 mm in width, and 1670 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2750 mm. Customers will have the option to choose between 18-inch and 19-inch wheels.

Inside the vehicle, the E5 features a separate LCD instrument screen for the driver and a head-up display. Additionally, there is a large central floating infotainment screen. The SUV employs the Flyme Auto car system, which was developed in collaboration with Meizu, a company controlled by Geely. This system is powered by the Dragon Eagle-1 chip, the first domestically produced 7 nm automotive chip. Buyers will have a choice of three different interior color schemes.

The Geely Galaxy E5 boasts an 11-in-1 intelligent electric drive system, integrating 11 major components such as motors, electronic controls, and reducers. This system weighs 79.8 kg and has a volume of just 72 liters. It achieves a comprehensive efficiency of up to 90.04% and consumes as little as 11.9 kWh per 100 km. The motor delivers a peak power of 160 kW. The drive system uses an Infineon TC397 chip, ensuring high communication efficiency and rapid power response.

The E5 is built on the Geely Electric Architecture (GEA) platform, which is derived from the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA). The GEA platform can support various powertrains, including EV, EREV, PHEV, and green methanol. Additionally, the E5 incorporates a CTB (Cell to Body) design, integrating the battery into the vehicle's body to enhance rigidity. The SUV also features a G-TCS all-weather drive anti-skid system, enabling it to achieve an official moose test speed of 78 km/h.

The Geely Galaxy E5 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and has a braking distance of 35 meters from 100 km/h. Its top speed is 180 km/h. The vehicle includes a 4-speed intelligent energy recovery system that adjusts braking force in real-time based on factors such as vehicle distance, road congestion, and incline, ensuring a smoother ride.

Geely’s self-developed Aegis short knife lithium iron phosphate batteries power the E5. The battery pack options are 49.52 kWh and 60.22 kWh, providing CLTC ranges of 440 km and 530 km, respectively.
