General Motors has announced two recalls for Cadillac XT5, XT6, and GMC Acadia cars. The larger of the two recalls affects 95,231 automobiles. According to an NHTSA alert, vehicles equipped with the optional Surround Vision feature have a rear-view camera that may fail or operate intermittently. If the camera is not working properly, rear visibility will be diminished, increasing the chance of a collision.
The camera may fail because the crimping procedure used to attach coaxial cable connections was insufficient to guarantee consistent signal quality. GM will fix the problem by replacing the coaxial cables in affected vehicles.
This action affects 29,692 Cadillac XT5 cars manufactured between May 1, 2019 and June 23, 2021. Additionally, 29,837 Cadillac XT6 models manufactured between February 25, 2019 and June 24, 2021, as well as 44,702 GMC Acadia models manufactured between May 6, 2019 and June 24, 2021, have been recalled. All of these years are in 2020 and 2021.
The second recall affects Cadillac XT5, XT6, and GMC Acadia models as well, but only 2023 vehicles manufactured on August 9, 2022. Vehicles in this case were built with a label on the driver's side B-pillar displaying tire-size information that may or may not be legible.
A printing mistake caused the problem, which was discovered by quality checks at GM's assembly factory on August 10th. Vehicles do not comply with S4.3.3 of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110 because of the label problem.
This recall affects a total of 24 automobiles. Dealers will resolve the issue by changing the vehicle certification label with a readable one.
