Honda Recalls SUVs Over Fire Risk

Honda has issued a recall for over 200,000 Passport and Pilot SUVs due to a potential fire hazard. The issue stems from a faulty connection between the fuel filler neck tube and the fuel filler pipe.

If the connection separates, it could lead to a fuel leak, which, under certain conditions, could ignite and cause a fire. Honda became aware of the problem after a dealer noticed a faulty connection during a pre-delivery inspection.

The recall impacts 2023-2024 Honda Passport and 2023-2025 Honda Pilot models manufactured within specific date ranges. Honda has emphasized that, to its knowledge, there have been no accidents or injuries related to this issue.

To rectify the problem, dealers will simply secure the fuel filler neck tube to the fuel filler pipe, a relatively straightforward repair. Honda will reimburse owners who have already paid to fix the issue.

It's worth noting that this isn't the first time Honda has faced fire-related recalls. In October, the automaker issued a recall for over 720,000 vehicles due to faulty high-pressure fuel pumps.

While this recent recall may cause some inconvenience, Honda is taking proactive steps to address the issue and ensure the safety of its customers. Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by mail and encouraged to schedule a repair appointment with their local Honda dealer.
