Just last week, one of our spies saw a prototype of the updated Hyundai i10, and now the smallest Hyundai model in Europe is receiving a midlife redesign to keep up with competitors.
The mid-cycle facelift doesn't make significant changes to the design or equipment, but it does add a few new features to the base tech while keeping the top-of-the-line N-Line trim in the lineup.
The only distinguishing feature of the exterior, starting with the grille, is the new honeycomb-shaped DRLs that have replaced the spherical ones. Not to mention, a pair of brand-new 15-inch alloy wheels are also available. The 16-inch rims of the N-Line model have a unique pattern.
Nine exterior colors are offered for the non-N-Line variants, two of which, Lumen Grey and Meta Blue, are brand-new for the city car. You can choose to have it with a striking black roof.
Hyundai upgraded the inside of the i10 N Line with triple red line fabric for the seat backs, blue ambient lighting on the footwells, and N Line badges and red accents. There is a new "Purple Package" for the ordinary i10 that gives the tartan fabric upholstery, stitching, air vents, and a purple sheen on the grey touchpoints a purple taste.
The small hatch is pre-configured with a 4.2-inch LCD instrument panel and front and rear USB type-C connections. On the dashboard's center is an 8.0-inch infotainment display that includes a navigation system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and over-the-air software updates.
In terms of safety, Hyundai has added the ability to recognize bicycles to the forward collision-avoidance assist, and a new rear occupant warning will notify the driver if the back door has been opened.
Nothing has been said regarding any mechanical adjustments. As of right now, the 1.0 MPi three-cylinder with naturally aspirated power produces 66 horsepower, the 1.2 MPi four-cylinder with 83 horsepower, and the turbocharged 1.0 TGD-i with 99 horsepower. The latter is used in the top-of-the-line Hyundai i10 N Line, which also has a sportier suspension set-up to go with the aggressive body kit.
At Izmit, Turkey, production of the redesigned Hyundai i10 will start in April 2023. In the second half of the year, the first deliveries are anticipated to take place in European markets.
