Hyundai Issues Recall for 2025 Palisade

Hyundai has issued a recall for approximately 620 units of the 2025 Palisade SUV due to a potential fire risk. The recall concerns the electric oil pump's components, which may have been poorly sealed during production, posing a significant safety concern. While the issue hasn’t yet led to any confirmed incidents in the field, Hyundai is taking preventative measures by advising owners to park their vehicles outside until the necessary repairs are made.

The problem originates from the electric oil pump, where the seal protecting the printed circuit board (PCB) may have been compromised due to a damaged spring in the production line. This flaw could allow water to enter the area, potentially short-circuiting the board and creating a fire hazard. While Hyundai has not received reports of fires or incidents, they caution that owners might notice unusual smells, such as burning or melting odors, or a malfunction warning on the dashboard, indicating a potential problem.

The recall process includes replacing the faulty electric oil pump controller unit with a properly sealed replacement to address the issue. Hyundai acted quickly upon discovering the issue, first learning about the defect from a supplier on March 21, 2025. By March 25, the company had identified a batch of suspect parts that could potentially pose the risk.

In an official statement filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Hyundai reassured vehicle owners that they can continue driving their Palisades. However, the company strongly recommends parking the vehicles outside and away from structures until the problem is resolved. The recall's repair plan will be implemented once parts are available, and dealers will begin replacing the faulty components at no cost to customers.

The recall notice is scheduled to be sent to customers via mail by July 4, 2025, and dealers will be notified through email. Owners can check if their vehicle is affected immediately by using the NHTSA’s free service, which allows them to enter their vehicle identification number (VIN) to verify the recall status. The recall is identified under the NHTSA number 25V-291, and concerned owners are encouraged to take action early for peace of mind.

As Hyundai works to resolve this safety issue, owners are advised to stay informed and take the necessary precautions until the recall repairs are completed.
