The Lexus RZ will be the brand's first worldwide all-electric SUV in 2023. The Toyota bZ4x and Subaru Solterra will most likely share the e-TNGA platform with the Lexus RZ in 2023.
The RZ will be the first car in a new chapter for Lexus, arriving in the United States by the end of 2022. By 2030, the company intends to sell entirely electric automobiles in North America, Europe, and China, with the rest of the globe following suit by 2035.
During a big press conference in Japan, Toyota President Akio Toyoda debuted the RZ 450e's external design. The LF-Z Electrified, an electric SUV with a futuristic design language and various innovative Lexus technology, previewed the Lexus RZ in concept form.
While the RZ's design is more restrained than the LF- Z's, elements of the LF-rapid Z's character lines on the side have made their way to the RZ.
The RZ's fast roofline and long tailgate were inspired by the LF-Z, with the production version's taillights having a less dramatic impact. The RZ will also have Direct4 and steer-by-wire, both of which were showcased at the LFZ. Direct4 is a torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system that can transfer torque to each wheel separately based on the driving circumstances, whilst steer-by-wire takes into account how far and how rapidly the wheel is moved for a better understanding of the driver's intentions.
No word yet on whether the RZ will come with a yoke steering wheel like the bZ4x and LF-Z Electrified. The RZ will offer a distinct in-cabin experience than the bZ4x thanks to Direct4 and the steer-by-wire technology.
The RZ 450e's powerplant has yet to be revealed. Despite the fact that Direct4 is designed to be utilized with two electric motors, one for the front axle and one for the rear, Lexus has kept its horsepower numbers under wraps. We're hoping for more power than the bZ4x's 215 horsepower.
For additional details on the Lexus RZ 2023, we'll have to wait till 2022.
