In advance of their release in late 2019 or early 2020, Chevrolet has unveiled the 2025 Tahoe and Suburban. A number of improvements have been made to the facelifted SUVs, going beyond the customary cosmetic adjustments. These include new safety features, an upgraded interior, and updates to the powertrain.
Cues from the Silverado HD are incorporated into the new design of the 2025 models. The pickup clearly served as inspiration for the daytime running lights. Chevrolet also mentioned that the higher-end models feature welcome and farewell animations in addition to animated turn signals. Rewinding a bit, the SUVs now come with newly designed 24-inch wheels.
Chevy has addressed those concerns on the inside with a completely redesigned, elegant, and technologically advanced cabin. The focal point of the design is a 17.7-inch infotainment system that looks to be shared with the updated Traverse. A smaller, more contemporary 11-inch digital instrument cluster connects the two.
The SUVs have a new dashboard with clean lines and updated air vents, but the changes go far beyond displays. The instrument panel has been lowered, according to Chevrolet, to make the space feel lighter and more spacious.
New switchgear and a minimalist center stack with a sleeker steering wheel complement the dash design. The opulent model, according to the manufacturer, also features a two-tone interior with a distinctive steering wheel and leather seats with "wingtip" perforations. Upgrading raises the stakes, and the High Country stands out for having real wood trim.
The standard suite of safety features includes Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Forward Collision Alert. They are accompanied by an HD surround vision system, enhanced automated parking assist, and front pedestrian and cyclist braking.
The available Connected Cameras system, which enables remote viewing of both interior and exterior footage, is another new feature. In addition to enabling Security Recording and Live View, this also turns on the dash cam and auto-records crashes for the system.
A 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel inline-six of the second generation is located under the engine. Its 305 horsepower and 670 Nm of torque are a significant increase over the current engine's 277 horsepower and 623 Nm.
For those seeking a more conventional option, there are 5.3- and 6.2-liter V8s available. Since Chevrolet didn't say anything about them, it's likely that their 355 and 420 horsepower outputs will remain the same.
The diesel engine is scheduled to arrive in 2025, but it will not be available at launch. That's a little disappointing, but at least the Z71 will be the first vehicle to use the engine.
Chevrolet adjusted the multilink rear suspension in addition to the engine changes to produce "more refined ride-and-handling dynamics." In addition, RST versions will be the first to offer the Air Ride Adaptive Suspension. Super Cruise and Magnetic Ride Control are also available to customers.
