Mercedes-Benz GLC 63 S was available in the U.S just in coupe body style but now buyers can get the SUV version for the 2022 model year. The sloped-roof GLC went on sale in the United States as the only "S" version of the nameplate in 2018, while Europeans got both the Coupe and the conventional SUV body style the same year, but the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S in the traditional SUV body style is now coming to the United States this year alongside the already on-sale Coupe.
The 2022 GLC 63 S SUV carries the Coupe's twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8, capable of 503 horsepower and 700 newton-meters, with a 3.6-second 0-60 time and an electronically restricted maximum speed of 280 km/h. The basic 4Matic all-wheel-drive system sends power to all four wheels, and a quick-shifting nine-speed automatic transmission controls it. The AMG Ride Control Plus air suspension with adjustable dampers is also standard on the GLC 63 S SUV.
Inside the cabin, the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S features a 12.3-inch central touchscreen that runs the Mercedes MBUX infotainment system, as well as special touches including an augmented-reality head-up monitor borrowed from the GLE and GLS, as well as a few AMG-specific touches.
Capacitive control buttons and the AMG steering wheel drive mode dial are all carried over from the standard GLC 63. Customers in the United States will be able to choose from a variety of optional engineering and design features, including the AMG Aerodynamics Package, the Exterior Carbon Fiber Package, AMG Performance Seats, the AMG Night Package, and the AMG Performance Studio Package, which includes expanded additional high-gloss black components, among others.
The 2022 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S SUV will go on sale in the United States later this year, but no pricing information has been released. With the non-S GLC 63 starting at $86,795 for the 2021 model year, expect the S variant to cost more.
