The 2025 BMW M4 and M4 Convertible Unveiled with Power Boost and Subtle Enhancements

Author: |

BMW is once again making waves in the automotive world with the 2025 model year updates for its M4 and M4 Convertible, taking cues from the refreshed 4-Series. While the alterations are predominantly subtle, encompassing both exterior and interior tweaks, the headline news is the injection of extra power into the 2025 M4 Competition xDrive coupe and convertible. These top-tier models will now boast an additional 20 horsepower, propelling the M4 to a formidable 523 hp.

Despite the power bump, acceleration times for the all-wheel-drive M4 Competition models remain unchanged. The 2025 M4 Competition xDrive coupe maintains its sprint to 96 km/h in 3.4 seconds, while the convertible accomplishes it in 3.6 seconds — consistent with the outgoing model. The top speed stands at 249 km/h as standard, with an optional M Driver’s Package elevating it to 290 km/h for the coupe and 280 km/h for the convertible.

For the rear-wheel-drive 2025 BMW M4 Competition, the power output remains at 503 hp, and the base M4 retains a respectable 473 hp, equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox to cater to purists.

While the exterior changes might be deemed minimal, they introduce a refreshed aesthetic. Upfront, redesigned headlights feature a more functional LED module, incorporating low and high beams, complemented by new "arrowhead" design daytime running lights that double as turn signals. The rear showcases improved taillights with laser technology borrowed from the limited-edition BMW M4 CSL, promising a stunning visual effect and potential inspiration for aftermarket projects.

Detail-oriented enthusiasts will note the silver border around the BMW M badge on the trunk lid and the gloss black finish on the roundel surrounds. A set of new M design graphics for the hood and trunk lid adds a touch of customizable flair.

Inside, the enhancements continue with a new flat-bottomed steering wheel design featuring modified spokes and a red strip at 12 o'clock. Alcantara, making its debut, offers a grippy option for the steering wheel. Standard trim comes in a dark graphite matte finish, with polished aluminum trim available as an option. The optional Sensatec (BMW's synthetic leather) dashboard upholstery has been upgraded to a finer grain for those seeking a luxurious touch.

The tech-savvy interior maintains BMW's curved display, consisting of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment screen. Running on BMW Operating System 8.5, the updated software streamlines the interface, reducing the reliance on physical buttons. A redesigned instrument panel, new toggles for the dashboard HVAC vents, and additional ambient lighting contribute to an enhanced driving experience.
