Current years BMW has been under heavy criticization by the publicity. The grille which grows every day and has covered the hole front fender end even is coming to the hood too. Many things this is the bad taste pf Chinese designers in this company and just some thing to be produced and make benefits. However, the chief designer always supports the design.
The large grille of B MW is now the big joke of automobile community. Even the new offered 2023 X7 facelift is not immune to the crises. The 2023 7 Series / i7 is the other victim too. As the BMW design chief, Domagoj Dukec explained to the car Magazine, two-third of customers like elegant and harmonic design. Like facelifted 3 series or the next generation of 5 series. But the remaining percent like to be divergence. As Dukec expelains, the customers of the new design are those who want an irrational car. And they pay for it too. Even Adrian van Hooydonk, BMW Group design chief, supported it and added:
"I don't think good design has to polarize but I think the concept of beauty can be polarizing. It comes back to the customer, and if one kind of customer is looking for a beautiful and timeless car, then of course we will design it. But there are also customers looking for something like an X6, which is certainly polarizing – you either hate it or you love it. That approach wouldn't work for a 3 Series or a 5 Series because they sell in bigger volumes, so it's clear you can’t come up with one solution."
For more accurate answer to the attractive or dislike design of BMW its better to look at the sale numbers. Like it or not, even with this hideous design, BMW has experienced about 9.1 percent more sale in 021 in compare with 2020. So maybe this ugly design is working.
