Toyota will debut the GR Corolla on March 31. This GR variant will be a hot-back with some aero touches. However, there is no news of seeing the sedan variant of it.
In the Toyota Dictionary GR means more power, sporty look, and of course extra money to be spend. This company will steam the unveiling at 9:30 PM EDT (1:30 AM GMT on April 1). The announcement was done by a brief teaser video and two pictures of it.
On this short teaser you can see some aerodynamic details too. Its on the GR Corolla’s front fender. A Tall outlet with black, horizontal strakes that seems to be right behind the wheel well. By this mean the brakes could be cooled down. Alongside with this vent, you can see the GR badge too. Also, in the other shot, "GR-FOUR" is embossed into panel. This refers its an all-wheel-drive just like Toyota GR Yaris.
GR Corolla will be powered by G16E-GTS 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine. This powertrain was used by GR Yaris too. The output of this engine is allowed to reach 268 hp in Japan and 257 hp in Europe. Also, there is possibility of using manual gearbox for GR Corolla. However, there is some prototypes of Toyota with eight-seed automatic gearbox too. It could be the other possibility for GR Corolla.
Also in another teaser, Toyota put GR86 and Supra in one frame. These two sport cars driving together and a bit if hint for the third vehicle. The GR Corolla was in the shadows. It is obvious by now; Toyota GR Corolla will be just a hatchback. There are no facts showing it can have a sedan variant too or not.
