In a continuation of its electric vehicle journey, SAIC Volkswagen has introduced upgraded versions of the ID.3 and ID.4 models in 2024, building on the success of their debut in China in 2021. The latest information and specifications, now available on the official website, shed light on the advancements incorporated into these electric vehicles.

Starting with the ID.3, this compact marvel has hit the market with two configurations, priced at $23,000 and $24,000. Despite a higher price point compared to its predecessor, which benefited from price cuts last year and started at an enticing USD 16,600, the ID.3 remains an attractive option in the electric car landscape.

The exterior of the updated ID.3 exhibits subtle yet impactful changes. Notable features include a closed front grille, a fresh style of LED headlights, and a more aerodynamic profile that adds a sporty flair. The rear design adopts a rounded look, complemented by a small spoiler at the roof's end, enhancing the overall athletic appeal. Retaining the same dimensions as its predecessor, the ID.3 measures 4261 mm in length, 1778 mm in width, 1568 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2765 mm, ensuring a compact size without compromising passenger comfort.

Inside the ID.3, a minimalist design prevails, featuring a compact full LCD instrument panel, a floating multimedia system supporting Apple CarPlay, and integrated electronic shift controls that optimize the storage space in the center console. Beneath the hood, a permanent magnet synchronous motor delivers 125kW of power and a peak torque of 310 Nm. The car boasts a commendable CLTC comprehensive operating range of 450 kilometers, courtesy of its 52.8kWh battery. For perspective, the new Model 3 rear-wheel drive boasts a CLTC operating range of 606km.

Volkswagen ID.4

Shifting focus to the ID.4, this model offers a broader spectrum of four price points, ranging from $27,000 to $38,000. In terms of power, the enhanced Volkswagen ID.4, equipped with the CLTC system, is projected to achieve operating mileages of 425 km, 601 km, and 555 km with maximum power outputs of 125kW, 150kW, and 230kW, respectively.
