The Volkswagen Amarok is one of Volkswagen's oldest vehicles, and the German carmaker is preparing to abandon it in favor of an all-new generation. However, another special edition of the German truck will be available in Australia, created locally by Melbourne-based Walkinshaw Performance: the Amarok W580X, an off-road-focused version of the W580, and W580S models that are currently available in the country.
The new W580X continues where the W580S left off, adding a suspension raise package for more ground clearance. Optional features include a snorkel, improved twin-tube dampers, and 18-inch forged wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires contained within larger wheel arches. In addition, VW and Walkinshaw have incorporated additional underbody protection and an LED light bar.
Rubber matting, heated seats covered in velour with Walkinshaw branding, a multi-function steering wheel with gearshift paddles, dual-zone temperature control, tire-pressure monitoring, Bi-xenon headlights, and LED fog lamps are all standard features.
Under the hood is the same 255 horsepower and 580 Nm of torque turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 diesel, delivering power to all four wheels via an 8-speed automated transmission. The revised suspension with MTV twin-tube dampers and a front raise, along with the all-terrain tires, make this Amarok even more capable off the trodden path.
Finally, an all-new generation sharing bones with the forthcoming Ford Ranger has been set to appear next year.
A Bakkie to die for. A beast indeed
I just fancy this vichle.
