The 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross, a refreshed version of Toyota’s popular small SUV, has officially been unveiled for the Australian market, promising updated styling and improved features. Although the model was initially revealed in Thailand over a year ago and more recently in Europe, Toyota has now confirmed that Australian showrooms will welcome the updated Corolla Cross in the second half of 2025. The facelift introduces a sharper exterior design and enhanced practicality, along with a new performance-inspired GR Sport variant.

At the forefront of the visual changes is a redesigned front fascia, which now features a new mesh-style grille that gives the Corolla Cross a bolder and more modern appearance. From the GXL trim level upward, the SUV also benefits from a revised LED headlight signature. While not explicitly mentioned in Toyota Australia's media release, the European version – which is manufactured in the same facility as the Australian models – includes advanced adaptive high-beam headlights and updated LED tail-lights with distinctive new lighting patterns and aerodynamic enhancements. Additional exterior upgrades include newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels, Corolla Cross badging embossed into the tailgate, and a fresh palette of colour options. Among the confirmed new colours for the Australian market are Massive Grey, Ink, Ash Slate, Shadow Platinum, and Feverish Red. Some trims will also offer stylish two-tone paint options, pairing a black roof with select body colours like Feverish Red and Frosted White.

One of the most notable additions to the lineup is the GR Sport grade. This version brings a sportier aesthetic with a front bumper design inspired by the GR Corolla performance hatch. It comes equipped with all-wheel drive as standard and sits on unique, darkened 19-inch alloy wheels exclusive to the GR Sport trim. The suspension has also been specially tuned to provide a more engaging driving experience.

Inside the cabin, the 2026 Corolla Cross has received several thoughtful upgrades aimed at improving comfort and functionality. There is a newly designed centre console that includes extra storage for smartphones, a revised gear selector, and a sliding compartment for added convenience. The cupholders have also been updated. Toyota has introduced faster wireless charging – now reportedly 1.5 times quicker than before – along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Additional refinements include upgraded ambient lighting, enhanced sound insulation for a quieter ride, and the introduction of a Snow Extra mode for better traction in challenging conditions (available in all-wheel-drive models in Europe).

While the 2.0-litre petrol-electric hybrid powertrain remains unchanged, continuing to deliver 146kW with both front- and all-wheel drive options, Toyota Australia has promised improved standard equipment across all variants – including the existing GX, GXL, and Atmos trims – although full specifications will be announced closer to launch. Pricing details for the updated Corolla Cross will also be revealed nearer to its Australian release later in 2025.
