Last July Audi canceled its R8 car. Therefore, there where now chance to taste that car unless you took the Performance version of it. This is also a naturally aspirated vehicle with the mid-engine. This is actually Audi R8 RWD. If you don’t mind a bit lower horsepower’s and all-wheel-drive system, consider it as a chance.
In fact, Audi R8 RWD is sister of the Audi R8 RWS. It is confirmed that this version is staying along the others. This car’s V10 engine with 5.2-lit capacity, is able to produce 532-hp power. This number is much lower than the aforementioned Performance trim, so don’t surprise if you see this drop in the torque too. The torque is about 398 lb-ft (15 lb-ft less than trimmed ones). On the other hand, by waiving the prop shaft, differential, and other AWD-related bits, this B8 RWD is much lighter. Maybe this can overcome the lackage of the power.
This new Audi R8 is available both in Coupe and Spyder model. The version which has fixed roof hits 100km/h just in 3.6 seconds but the convertible version is a tenth slower. Also, coupe model has 201 mph as the top speed and the Spyder one, 200.
The less powerful engine is not the only change in Audi V8 RWD. Also, Audi used solid rear axles instead of hollow ones for RWD. Moreover, stiffer front anti-roll bar is changed too so the rear negative camber is more now. And the rear-wheel-drive is used too. As the result, the price is also cheaper. V8 RWD coupe is tagged just $142,700. Also, the Spyder is $154,900 for sale.
This winter Audi V8 RWD is available in the US market. By considering the 3 percent drop of the sales for Audi, we wish they could cover this number again with this in shape car.
