In 2017, the current fourth-generation A8 was released. Audi unveiled the facelifted A8 in its entirety. The 2022 Audi A8 receives a number of cosmetic enhancements.
The front end was updated, with new color options, the S Line package added, and additional technology within the sumptuous cabin. For the first time, the S Line package is offered on the A8.
The A8 stands out as Audi's longest, most imposing, and most opulent vehicle. The A8, A8L, and S8 models have a redesigned grille with a distinctive finish. In line with previous Audi vehicles, the revised bumper includes bigger intakes ringed by chrome.
The Digital Matrix LED technology is used in a new set of more angular headlights. Each headlight in this technique contains 1.3 million micromirrors.
At the back, where digital OLED taillights are standard, the changes are more modest. For the first time in this model, the S-line package is available, giving it a sportier flair. The quad exhaust pipes and the diffuser define the S8 performance edition.
The normal A8 is 5.19 meters long, the S8 is 5.20 meters long owing to the different bumpers, the A8 L is 5.32 meters long due to the larger wheelbase, and the China-only A8 L Horch is even longer at 5.45 meters.
A 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster, an optional head-up display, and an 8.6-inch touchscreen with Audi's newest MIB3 infotainment system comprise the fully digital cockpit.
Matrix LED reading lights and a Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System with a 1,920 Watt amplifier and 23 speakers are included in the makeover.
Up to 40 driver assistance devices have been added to the safety equipment. The Audi pre-sense basic comes with three optional packages that enable semi-autonomous functions: Park, City, and Tour.
The facelifted A8's engine lineup includes the 3.0 TFSI V6, 4.0 TFSI V8, Biturbo 4.0 TFSI V8, and 3.0 TDI turbodiesel. In the future, a PHEV version will be available.
The 3.0-liter gasoline engine in the Audi A8 55 TFSI delivers 335 horsepower and 500 Nm in Europe, with a lower model delivering 282 horsepower in China. The A8 60 TSFI Quattro, with its 4.0-liter V8, generates 453 horsepower and 660 Nm, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds.
The Biturbo 4.0-liter V8 engine in the S8 performance flagship produces 563 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. It takes 3.8 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. The S8 has predictive active suspension, a performance differential, and dynamic all-wheel steering in addition to the basic Quattro system.
The A8 is only available with an eight-speed automatic transmission in all trim levels.
The 2022 Audi A8 will be on sale in Europe in December. The Audi A8 50 TDI will start at $115,540 in Germany, while the Audi S8 will start at $168,135.
