Kia has revealed the 2022 model year Kia Stinger in the U.S. The refreshed sport sedan will drop the 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine and will use a new 2.5-liter turbocharged engine with 300 hp and 422 nm of torque for its entry-level. Compared to the old 2.0-liter engine, the new powertrain has 45 more horsepower. It also can run from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds which is very good for an entry-level version.
The new 2.5-liter unit is not the only change for the 2022 Kia Stinger. The GT models also received an updated version of the 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine that now has 368 hp that shows a slight increase from the outgoing model. Power sent to the rear wheels with an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters behind the steering wheel as the only transmission option. The 2022 Stinger also has a new exhaust system with variable valves.
In terms of look, the 2022 model has new tailpipes, new LED headlights, new taillights, new daytime running lights, and new 18-inch or 19-inch alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin, there is a 10.25-inch touchscreen as standard, Nappa seats, LED ambient lighting, and a 4.2-inch TFT screen inside the instrument cluster (a 7-inch screen is optional). The 2022 Stinger also comes with a range of active safety systems like forward-collision warning, braking assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-keep assist.
Buyers also can go for a new special edition known as the Scorpion that comes with an additional rear spoiler, blacked-out exterior trim, special black wheels, and carbon fiber pattern trim inside the cabin.
Pricing for the 2022 Kia Stinger starts from $36,090 for the base GT-Line trim, $43,690 for the GT1, and $51,290 for the GT2 trim. It will go on sale this spring.
