For the 2022 model year, Volkswagen Jetta will receive a mid-cycle upgrade. The small car also comes with extra standard amenities and a 1.5-liter TSI engine.
The four-cylinder turbo produces 158 horsepower and 250 Newton-meters of torque, which is 11 horsepower more than the 1.4-liter TSI. The list of gearbox options begins with a carryover 6-speed manual transmission. It's also worth mentioning the 8-speed automatic transmission. The 2.0-liter TSI engine remains unaltered from the facelift, producing 228 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque at maximum throttle.
The normal tranny is a 6-speed manual, while the automatic is a dual-clutch affair with seven rather than eight forward gears. The Grand Luxury Injection has a mechanical limited-slip differential and a multi-link independent rear suspension, but the GLI version has a 10-inch digital instrument cluster.
We should also mention the stronger front and rear fascias, three new metallic paint finishes in Kings Red, Oryx White, and Rising Blue, and new designs for the 16- to 18-inch alloy wheels.
The focus of the inside is an 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster. for the entry-level model, there are fabric seats and leatherette or leather on higher grades. For the 2022 model year, Volcano Brown leather upholstery is introduced.
There is also a Jetta Sport trim level that sits just above the basic model and has an XDS electronic differential lock. Originally designed for the Golf GTI, this piece of hardware functions as a limited-slip differential to compensate for the understeer common in FWD automobiles.
The small sedan, which is based on the MQB chassis used by the Golf and Golf GTI, may be made even sportier by opting for the Jetta GLI. For 2022, there is only one trim level offered. Customers have only one option, which is a black package.
