The 2023 Honda CR-V has been unveiled for the American market, has received design improvements, and features a hybrid powertrain option.
The CR-V Sport and Sport Touring include a new hybrid powertrain that combines a 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle four-cylinder with a pair of electric motors, which is a major improvement. 204 horsepower and 335 Nm of torque are the total output. These variants have a towing capacity of up to 1,000 kg.
A new 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 190 horsepower and 243 Nm of torque between 1,700 and 5,000 rpm powers the CR-V EX and EX-L variants. All models include Honda's Rear Time AWD system, which is paired with a CVT.
Although the Honda CR-hybrid V's powertrain is a significant advancement for buyers, it is not the only one. Honda's upgraded global architecture, which the carmaker claims produce a smoother ride and higher stability, is the foundation of the 2023 CR-V. Along with a reworked MacPherson strut front suspension and variable-ratio steering that enhances feel and precision, it also benefits from a 15% torsionally stronger body.
The 2023 CR-V is 2.7 inches longer and has a 1.6-inch longer wheelbase, but the A-pillars have been moved such that they are now 4.7 inches more back, 2.8 inches more outward, and 1.4 inches lower. The wing mirrors have also been moved to the doors by Honda.
For the 2023 model year, the vertical taillights have also undergone changes.
The Honda CR-V will be offered in 2023 in EX, EX-L, Sport, and Sport Touring versions. The front grille mesh on the EX and EX-L is gloss black with chrome accents, and 18-inch 10-spoke wheels are standard. The Sport and Sport Turing models, on the other hand, include gloss black grilles, more angular front, and rear fascias, rectangular exhaust finishers, and a rear spoiler. The Sport Touring rides on 19-inch 5-spoke wheels, while the CR-V Sport has exclusive 18-inch Berlina Black 10-spoke wheels.
The cabin has undergone a number of improvements, including a dashboard with a simple, elegant design that has eye-catching metal honeycomb mesh to hide the air vents. A 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 7-inch infotainment screen with physical volume and tuning knobs are other features of the new SUV from Honda. A 9-inch touchscreen display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is included in the EX-L and Sport Touring trims, along with 15W wireless smartphone charging.
