The 2025 Isuzu MU-X lineup has been expanded with the introduction of a new X-Terrain trim, bringing a fresh update to the popular seven-seat off-road SUV. This update follows in the footsteps of the enhancements applied to its sibling, the Isuzu D-Max, nearly a year ago in Australia. The move is aimed at keeping the MU-X competitive against rivals like the Ford Everest and Toyota Prado. As part of this update, pricing across the entire range has increased by $1000 to $2000, depending on the trim level.

A number of significant design and feature upgrades have been made to both the exterior and interior of the MU-X. The front and rear fascias have been refreshed with redesigned headlights, tail-lights, and a new front grille. Inside, the cabin now includes physical volume and tuning dials for the infotainment system, along with enhanced safety features. The newly introduced X-Terrain variant stands apart from the LS-T trim with its unique 20-inch alloy wheels, red and grey contrast stitching on leather-accented seats, piano black and silver interior trims, red LED ambient lighting, black wheel arch flares, lower body side skirts, an underbody spoiler, and an exclusive Slate Grey Metallic paint option.

One of the key performance updates includes the refinement of Isuzu’s Rough Terrain Mode (RTM), which now integrates more effectively with the rear differential lock. This means improved traction control for the front wheels while maintaining constant mechanical traction at the rear. Additionally, the MU-X now benefits from an advanced 'GEN4' stereo camera, which expands the field of view for the vehicle’s driver assistance systems by 200 per cent and extends vehicle detection range by 25 per cent. Adaptive cruise control has been upgraded to work alongside traffic sign recognition, lane-keep assist now functions from a standstill up to 140 km/h, and rear cross-traffic braking is now standard across all models. Furthermore, the LS-T and X-Terrain trims gain a surround-view camera system, which can be activated while driving to enhance visibility in tight spaces or monitor blind spots.

Technology updates include an 8.0-inch infotainment screen with wired Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, smartphone mirroring, and voice recognition for the LS-M trim. Meanwhile, the LS-U, LS-T, and X-Terrain models are equipped with a larger 9.0-inch touchscreen featuring satellite navigation, digital radio, and an eight-speaker audio system. Safety remains a priority, with all variants featuring radar cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, autonomous emergency braking with turn assist, traffic sign recognition, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, trailer sway control, and eight airbags.

Under the hood, the MU-X retains two engine options: a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel and a 1.9-litre turbo-diesel, the latter of which was first introduced to the D-Max in 2024. The base LS-M variant, starting at $48,400, is the only two-wheel-drive model available with the 1.9-litre engine. Those opting for the smaller engine in a four-wheel-drive setup can choose between the LS-M (from $54,400) and LS-U (from $61,400) trims, with prices listed before on-road costs. The 1.9-litre engine generates 147 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, while the 3.0-litre version delivers 187 horsepower and 450 Nm. The larger engine starts at $50,400 for the 4x2 LS-M model. Fuel consumption for the 1.9-litre engine is rated at 7.4 litres per 100 kilometres for both 4x2 and 4x4 variants, making it nearly 12 per cent more fuel-efficient than the 3.0-litre 4x4 version. Both engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and offer either two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive with low-range gearing and a rear locking differential.

In addition to these updates, Isuzu has made subtle adjustments to the suspension across all trims, including a 2mm increase in piston size and revised valving for improved high-speed stability and ride comfort.

Isuzu’s previous seven-year capped-price servicing plan has now been replaced with a five-year flat-rate servicing program, introduced in 2024. This program sets a fixed cost of $469 per year, totaling $2345 over the five-year period.
