Previously teased as the Avatr 15, recent revelations from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology indicate that it will be officially named the 07. Developed by Changan as a direct competitor to the widely acclaimed Tesla Model Y, preliminary reports suggest that its price range will fall between 250,000 yuan and 350,000 yuan, equivalent to approximately $34,600 to $48,400 in current exchange rates.

The Avatr 07 will be available in both BEV and range-extender EV configurations. The base BEV variant features a single rear axle motor generating 338 hp, paired with an LFP battery sourced from CATL. Additionally, a dual-motor BEV variant is in the pipeline, boasting a combined output of 590 hp.

For those opting for the range-extender EV model, a standard version equipped with a 310 hp electric motor at the rear axle and a 1.5-liter engine producing 154 hp is offered. Alternatively, an all-wheel-drive range-extender EV variant is available, delivering a combined output of 485 hp and offering an all-electric range of 178 km.

Positioned as a direct competitor to the Tesla Model Y, the Avatr 07 slightly exceeds its dimensions. With a length of 4,825 mm, width of 1,980 mm, and height of 1,620 mm, along with a wheelbase of 2,940 mm, it surpasses the Model Y by 75 mm in length, 59 mm in width, and is 4 mm lower. Wheel options include 20-inch and 21-inch variants.

The design ethos of the Avatr 07 closely mirrors that of the brand's existing crossover models, particularly the Avatr 11. Notable features include LED daytime running lights extending down the front fascia, which seamlessly integrates with a black grille. The vehicle offers the option of traditional wing mirrors or side-view cameras, with sleek and unembellished door panels sporting flush door handles.

At the rear, the Avatr 07 maintains consistency with its predecessors, featuring a modest window and slim LED taillights. The design of the license plate holder area mimics the shape of the front grille, creating a cohesive aesthetic across the vehicle.
