The first images of BYD's brand-new plug-in hybrid SUV have been released. On the Chinese Chengdu Auto Show in 2022, the BYD Corvette 07 made its debut. A medium-sized SUV, the Corvette 07 is built on the same platform as the BYD Tang.
The car, which may go by the names Frigate 07 or Corvette 07, has dimensions of 4,820 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, 1,750 mm in height, and 2,820 mm in wheelbase.
The BYD Corvette 07 is a member of the aptly called "Warship Series." A line of cars called the Warship series sits just above the BYD lineup's entry-level models. For the time being, the Corvette 07 is the series' flagship SUV.
The new BYD model has a distinctive design, to put it mildly. An oval-shaped grille with lighted LED graphics sets it apart from other SUVs on the market right away. With pop-out door handles, black body cladding over the rocker panels and wheel arches, and a set of 20-inch wheels, BYD's design team also had a field day with the Frigate 07's side profile. LED taillights, a light bar, and twin spoilers that extend from the roof are all present in the back. BYD hasn't yet made the interior public but there are some photos showing a simple and modern interior with two LED displays and huge use of leather on the dash.
According to Car News China, the BYD Corvette is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with 139 horsepower. A 197 hp electric motor on the front axle and a 204 hp electric motor on the rear axle give the SUV some more power. The total output is 656 Nm and 401 horsepower. The sprint time for this version is 4.7 seconds from 0 to 100.
Customers can choose between a 9.9 kWh or an 18.3 kWh battery pack, with a commensurate range of all-electric travel of 46 km and 71 km.
More information about the model will be released by BYD in the future, but it is anticipated to start at roughly $36,440.
