Ford's Ranger, already a resounding success in the automotive market, is set to expand its dominance with the introduction of the new Ranger Super Duty, a robust variant engineered for demanding, heavy-duty applications. This enhanced iteration, while destined for select global markets, including Australia, will unfortunately not be available to consumers in the United States.

The Ranger Super Duty distinguishes itself from its standard counterpart with a heightened ride stance, an expanded track width accentuated by flared fenders, and the implementation of new 33-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires. Ford's design team has also crafted a unique hood, prominently displaying the "Super Duty" moniker. Furthermore, all Super Duty models will feature a standard frame-mounted steel front bumper, attachment points for auxiliary driving lights, and a protective front bash plate, reinforcing its rugged character.

A key feature of the new Ranger Super Duty is its standard-issue custom-designed snorkel, enabling it to navigate deep water crossings with confidence. The vehicle also boasts enlarged wing mirrors, enhancing visibility in challenging conditions. However, the most significant upgrade is its enhanced towing capacity, now rated at 4,500 kg, a substantial increase from the standard model's 3,500 kg.

Ford will produce the Ranger Super Duty in a variety of configurations, including Single Cab Chassis, Super Cab Chassis, Double Cab Chassis, and Double Cab versions. This versatility makes it ideal for both private buyers requiring a dependable work vehicle and emergency service providers. The vehicle's development involved extensive collaboration with fleet managers, private service companies, and over 50 other enterprises, resulting in what Ford believes to be the most comprehensive and adaptable Ranger yet.

Despite some enthusiasts' hopes, the Super Duty will not be equipped with the Ranger Raptor's engine. Instead, it will exclusively feature the same 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6 engine found in lower Ranger models. However, Ford has clarified that this engine has been upgraded to meet stringent heavy-duty emissions standards. Specific power and torque figures have not been released, but it will continue to be paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission.

Numerous other modifications have been implemented to enhance the vehicle's capabilities. For instance, a 130-liter fuel tank is now standard, and Ford has added front and rear differential locks to improve off-road performance. The chassis has also been reinforced to support the increased towing capacity. A particularly innovative feature is the inclusion of onboard scales, which provide real-time estimations of the cargo load in the bed.

Ford has yet to announce pricing details, and the vehicle's market launch is scheduled for 2026. This extended timeline leaves American truck enthusiasts with a period of anticipation, possibly leading to travel plans to Australia for those eager to experience the Ranger Super Duty firsthand. The vehicle's comprehensive upgrades and enhanced capabilities are poised to make it a formidable contender in its segment.
