The Hyundai i20 N, a popular hot hatch known for its impressive performance, has received a few subtle updates for the 2025 model year. While the overall design remains instantly recognizable, closer inspection reveals several refinements.
One of the most noticeable changes is the new design for the 18-inch forged alloy wheels. The silver finish contrasts nicely with the Dynamic Tomato Red brake calipers, creating a visually striking combination. The aggressive body kit has also been slightly modified, featuring a new mesh pattern for the grille. Although the "redesigned front bumper" may be difficult to distinguish from the previous version, the black Hyundai emblems and matte finish on the N badging add a touch of sophistication.
Inside the cabin, the updates are more limited. The i20 N now features LED interior lighting and revised Hyundai emblems on the gear knob and steering wheel. Additionally, Hyundai's Bluelink connected car services and over-the-air (OTA) software updates for the infotainment system have been added.
Mechanically, the i20 N remains unchanged. The turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine continues to deliver 201 horsepower and 275 Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox, aided by a mechanical limited-slip differential. The i20 N also retains its N-specific suspension, brakes, and steering, along with the sporty, louder exhaust.
The 2025 Hyundai i20 N is expected to arrive in Australia from November 2024 with a price tag of AU$35,500 before on-road costs. This represents a slight increase of AU$500 compared to its predecessor. With the discontinuation of the Ford Fiesta ST, the similarly powerful VW Polo GTI remains the i20 N's primary competitor.
It's worth noting that Australian buyers do not have access to the standard Hyundai i20 supermini or the recently facelifted N Line, which are available in Europe. However, Australia is unique in offering the entire Hyundai N lineup, including the i20 N, i30 N, i30 Sedan N (Elantra N), and the all-electric Ioniq 5 N.
