MG Motor India has expanded its Hector Plus lineup by introducing two new variants for the 7-seater model. The updated options include a Select Pro petrol variant equipped with a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) and priced at Rs 19.71 lakh, as well as a Smart Pro diesel variant with a manual transmission, available for Rs 20.64 lakh. These additions enhance the appeal of the Hector Plus by offering more versatile choices tailored to both petrol and diesel consumers.
Both new Hector Plus variants are packed with several modern features to boost comfort and convenience for drivers and passengers alike. The vehicles are equipped with a large 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system, providing easy access to connected car technology, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless phone charging is also included, allowing passengers to charge devices without the hassle of cables. The aesthetic features are equally impressive, with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED projector headlamps, and sequential turn indicators that add a sophisticated touch to the vehicle’s appearance. The cabin includes a leather-wrapped steering wheel for a premium feel, a full LED instrument cluster to enhance visibility of key driving information, and a push-button start system with keyless entry, offering added convenience and style.
Under the hood, the Hector Plus petrol variant is powered by a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine, delivering 143 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. This engine is available in both automatic (CVT) and manual transmissions, giving buyers greater flexibility depending on their driving preference. The diesel variant, on the other hand, uses a robust 2.0-liter engine, sourced from Stellantis, which generates 170 horsepower and an impressive 350 Nm of torque. This diesel engine is the same unit found in other popular vehicles in India, including the Tata Harrier, Tata Safari, and Jeep Compass, known for its durability and performance in demanding conditions.
With these new additions, MG Motor has made a few key adjustments to the Hector Plus lineup. Previously, the petrol Select Pro trim was only available with a manual gearbox, but with this update, it now offers a CVT automatic option. Similarly, the diesel Smart Pro variant was initially only available as a 6-seater; however, the 7-seater option is now available, featuring a bench seat in the second row. These configurations provide more budget-friendly choices for those who prefer the petrol-auto combination or need a 7-seater diesel setup, thus catering to a broader range of preferences and budgets.
With these new, value-oriented variants, MG Motor aims to strengthen the Hector Plus’s position as a versatile and competitively priced choice in India’s mid-size SUV market, appealing to both families and individual buyers looking for a blend of comfort, functionality, and affordability.
