Lotus has finally stepped up its plan, announcing the introduction of four new electric vehicles by 2026. The new vehicles are part of Lotus' Vision80 plan, which defines the company's transition into a worldwide EV brand in advance of its 80th birthday in 2028.
The first vehicle to join the Evija hypercar and the Emira, the marque's final combustion-powered sports car, will be a zero-emission SUV built on a new platform.
Lotus claims it will be able to accelerate from a standstill to 96 kph in less than three seconds. 92-120 kWh batteries will provide the electric energy for the EV powertrain.
Lotus will also deliver a four-door all-electric coupe in 2023, followed by a bigger SUV the following year. An all-new, all-electric sports vehicle will be introduced in 2026, completing the brand's EV-only portfolio five years later.
Lotus has extended its activities by laying the groundwork for a new headquarters in Wuhan, China. Lotus Technology will be finished in 2024, and a second plant on the same location will open later this year.
