Due to low sales, the Infiniti Q60 coupe may be phased out in 2023. In 2020, the premium carmaker supplied just 2,792 Q60 vehicles, a 44.6 percent decrease from the previous year.
The downward trend continued in the first half of 2021 when Infiniti moved 1,697 vehicles, a 10.1 percent decrease from the same time the previous year.
The automobile is powered by a new twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine that produces 300 horsepower and 400 Nm or 400 hp and 475 Nm depending on the trim level. A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 208 horsepower and 350 Nm was offered.
A 7-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels. Buyers could opt either rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive configurations.
Infiniti and the Renault F1 team worked together on the Q60 Project Black S concept in 2017. It adds hybrid assistance to the high-output version of the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6, producing 500 horsepower in total. There were several reports of a manufacturing version of this design, but it never materialized.
Infiniti will concentrate on producing models that are popular in the United States and China. The approach may include discontinuing the brand's rear-wheel-drive vehicles, such as the Q60. There may be more platform sharing with Nissan in the future.
Too Bad. I think the Q60 is a great car. Yes, the infotainment is a bit dated. I think Infinite hasn't done a poor job of branding the car. Is it luxury or Sports coupe or is it both? I think they should have developed a hybrid sport or luxury coupe by now to transition into the electric phase.
