Peugeot has significantly expanded the lineup of its popular 3008 and 5008 SUVs in Europe, offering a wider range of electrified powertrain options. These additions come just a year after the introduction of the updated 3008 and six months after the launch of the 5008.
The lineup now includes plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions, featuring a combination of a turbocharged 1.6-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor. This setup delivers a combined power output of 192 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, transmitted to the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. While the PHEVs are slightly less powerful than their AWD-capable predecessors, they offer a significant advantage in terms of electric range.
Equipped with a 21 kWh battery pack, the PHEV models can travel up to 84 kilometers on electric power alone under the WLTP test cycle. Charging takes approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes. Drivers can choose between three driving modes: Hybrid, Electric, and Sport, allowing them to prioritize efficiency or performance.
The larger Peugeot 5008 also receives the same PHEV powertrain, although its electric range is slightly shorter at 82 kilometers. Notably, the PHEV models maintain the same cargo space as their BEV and mild-hybrid counterparts thanks to the efficient packaging of the STLA Medium architecture.
Peugeot has also announced the upcoming launch of "Long-Range 230 Electric" versions of the E-3008 and E-5008, marking the top-of-the-line options in their respective lineups. These flagship BEVs feature a larger 96.9 kWh battery pack, compared to the standard 73 kWh unit. This substantial increase in battery capacity translates to impressive WLTP ranges of 700 kilometers for the E-3008 and 668 kilometers for the E-5008.
Both Long-Range 230 Electric models are equipped with a single electric motor producing 227 horsepower and are compatible with 160 kW DC charging. Peugeot boasts that the E-3008 can complete a journey from Paris to Nice with just two charging stops, surpassing the charging requirements of its competitors.
The PHEV models are already available for order in most European markets, while the long-range EVs are expected to arrive shortly after their debut at the Paris Motor Show. With these new additions, Peugeot has solidified its position in the electrified SUV segment, offering customers a diverse range of options to suit their needs and preferences.
