The debut of the BYD Song Pro DM-i Honor Edition plug-in hybrid crossover in China signifies a significant milestone, boasting a combined range of up to 1090 km and a fuel consumption rate of 4.4 L/100km. In a strategic move to compete with traditional petrol-driven vehicles within the domestic market, BYD has implemented a substantial price reduction of 20,000 yuan, setting the starting price for the Song Pro DM-i at 109,800 yuan.

Under the hood, the BYD Song Pro DM-i features a powertrain comprising a 1.5-liter turbocharged internal combustion engine (ICE) generating 110 hp, coupled with a robust 197-khp electric motor and E-CVT transmission. The entry-level variant, the Song Pro DM-i Honor Edition, integrates a 12.9-kWh LFP battery, offering an electric WLTC range of 59 km. Alternatively, a larger battery variant with an 18.3 kWh capacity extends the electric range to 85 km without activating the petrol engine, resulting in an impressive combined range of 1090 km (NEDC).

In terms of design, the BYD Song Pro DM-i Honor Edition showcases a refreshed front grille featuring a distinctive scale pattern, embodying BYD's latest "Dragon Face" design language, a design cue previously observed in the BYD Tang DM-i model. The dimensions of the Song Pro DM-i remain consistent at 4738/1860/1710 mm, with a wheelbase of 2712 mm, while the introduction of a black body color adds to the vehicle's aesthetic appeal.

Inside the cabin, minimal alterations are observed in the Song Pro DM-i Honor Edition. The top-tier trim level boasts a 15.6-inch rotatable screen, complemented by an 8.8-inch LCD instrument cluster, heated and ventilated seats, and a premium nine-speaker audio system.

Available in five distinct trim levels priced between 109,800 and 139,800 yuan, the Song Pro DM-i Honor Edition represents a significant reduction compared to its predecessor, the Song Pro DM-i Champion Edition, which previously ranged from 129,800 to 159,800 yuan. This reduction amounts to 20,000 yuan across all trim levels, indicating a notable price adjustment reflecting BYD's strategic intent to challenge petrol-powered vehicles and increase market share amidst intensifying competition within the Chinese automotive landscape. Over the course of two years, the Song Pro DM-i has seen a cumulative reduction of 26,000 yuan, further underscoring BYD's ambitious market penetration efforts.
