There are a ton of automakers' unique cars and prototypes on display at the 2023 SEMA Show, but they are not for sale unless you want to buy individual parts and build your own. For actual Tundra customers, the very modest TRD Performance Package will probably be the most intriguing and pertinent revelation made at the show.
The Tundra's performance package, which was unveiled at SEMA today, will increase the power of the i-Force V6 basic engine by 32 horsepower or the more potent i-FORCE MAX engine by 32 horsepower without compromising the factory warranties of the buyers.
The i-FORCE MAX will see a rise in peak output from 437 horsepower to 469 horsepower, while the standard engine will produce 421 horsepower instead of 389 horsepower. Furthermore, peak torque is obtained 400 RPM earlier, at 2,000 RPM, even though it still stands at 649 Nm.
By installing new exhaust and enhanced dual intakes, which both improve airflow, that is mechanically achieved. The modifications are optimized with a new engine tune, however this means you'll have to use premium fuel. For a more aggressive and potent driving experience, Toyota additionally modifies the throttle.
Finally, Toyota improved the engine management calibration to make the most of the new hardware. The TRD Performance Package, on the other hand, requires the Tundra to use 91 octane premium fuel, which may cost owners money at the pump. You won't have to wait long for Tundras with better power. The TRD Performance Package will be available in early 2019.
