The Volvo XC60, a mainstay in the brand's lineup, has maintained a relatively low profile in recent news cycles, with attention primarily directed towards the EX30 EV, the refreshed XC90, and the forthcoming EX60. However, the XC60's performance in sales figures remains robust, solidifying its position as Volvo's best-selling model since its introduction in 2017. To ensure the XC60's continued success and maintain its competitive edge, Volvo has implemented a series of updates for the 2026 model year.
This latest refresh follows a similar approach to the 2021 update, which introduced a new grille, wheel designs, color and trim options, and an enhanced infotainment system. The 2026 model year revisions focus on refining the existing design and incorporating technological enhancements, ensuring the XC60 remains relevant in the competitive midsize SUV segment.
The most notable exterior change is the adoption of a new grille design, inspired by the revised grille introduced on the XC90 last year. This new grille features a series of diagonal lines, creating a distinctive visual pattern. Interestingly, this design bears a resemblance to some of BMW's recent grille designs. Other exterior updates include darker taillights, new optional wheel designs, and the introduction of new paint options, providing customers with a wider range of customization choices.
The interior of the XC60 has also received attention, with a focus on enhancing the premium ambiance. New materials, such as Quilted Nordico and Navy Herringbone Weave, have been incorporated to elevate the cabin's tactile quality. Other interior enhancements include an improved wireless phone charger and redesigned cupholders, addressing practical considerations for occupants.
The most significant interior upgrade is the implementation of a larger and more advanced infotainment screen. The display has increased in size from 9.0 to 11.2 inches, featuring improved pixel density for sharper visuals. The system is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon Cockpit Platform, resulting in a significant performance boost. Volvo claims that the new infotainment system is twice as fast as its predecessor and ten times faster in generating graphics. Volvo has maintained the XC60's existing powertrain options. In the United States, customers will continue to have the choice between a 247-horsepower, 2.0-liter mild-hybrid four-cylinder engine in the B5 model and a 455-horsepower plug-in hybrid powertrain in the T8 PHEV. In the United Kingdom and Europe, a less powerful plug-in hybrid option, the 345-horsepower T6, will also be available. Pricing details for the 2026 XC60 will be released closer to the vehicle's on-sale date. This refresh serves to keep the very popular XC60 up to date.
