VW Crafter Gets Updates

By the end of the previous year, more than 354,000 Volkswagen Crafters from the current generation had been sold, making it one of the most well-liked products in its market.

Although it isn't available for purchase in the US, we felt it was significant enough to discuss the brand's commercial vehicle division's mid-cycle update.

The model has proven its worth, whether it is used as a dependable panel van, an adaptable dropside, a robust chassis, an opulent Grand California camper van, or a platform for second-stage manufacturers.

The big changes, as seen in spy photos from September of this year, are inside the cabin, where the Crafter gets a completely new infotainment system with either a 10.3- or 12.9-inch screen on the dashboard.

The digitalization process continues with the introduction of a new digital instrument cluster, which is now standard equipment. The driver can select one of several views, and the display includes a variety of menus and information displays, ranging from navigation and phone controls to media libraries. All of this is controlled by the new multifunction steering wheel.

The gear lever has been relocated to the steering wheel column, as it was on the ID. Buzz, freeing up more space in the center console.

Vehicles with manual transmissions, on the other hand, retain the older layout. Another addition is a USB-C charging port in the upper windscreen trim, which allows the use of custom devices without obstructing the driver's field of vision.

Front-wheel, rear-wheel, and all-wheel drive are available, as are manual and automatic transmissions. Four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engines produce 140, 163, and 177 horsepower, respectively.

The Crafter is impressive in terms of safety features and technology. To improve safety on the road, it has sophisticated driver assistance features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, and a rear-view camera. Additionally, the car has an easy-to-use infotainment system that integrates mobile devices seamlessly with Bluetooth, USB ports, and a touchscreen display.

The Crafter also places a high priority on driver comfort thanks to its adjustable steering wheel and ergonomic seating position. Even during extended periods of time spent driving, the driver and passengers will have plenty of room in the cabin.

Volkswagen will begin accepting orders for the new Crafter in European markets in April of next year. Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and South America will follow in the coming months.
